About Our Church Planting...
Jesus gives all Christians the mandate to reach people with the good news of His saving grace. He really is the light of the world. Our desire to reach out, therefore, is both a predictable and loving response to our Lord’s command found in the Bible— in Matthew 28:19-20.
Out of this desire to be responsive to our Lord’s call, and in keeping with our belief in the Holy Spirit (promised to each believer by Jesus), Regency Christian Church, periodically, enters into a formal vision process. During this time, we pray and wait upon the Holy Spirit for up to six months, for a sense of God’s leading for our congregation. Thankfully, we invariably receive (through prophecy) a sense of spiritual confirmation about certain priorities that the Lord has set for us.
As it happened, one of these formal vision processes came to completion in the Spring of 2009, and while (at first) we didn’t interpret all the revelation correctly, in 2010 we came (by faith) to the startling conclusion that God was asking us to plant a church in Edmonton, itself— reaching beyond our home congregation, in Devon. This, in combination with our National Pastor, David Schrader’s, heartfelt desire to plant churches across the country, has led us to the “logic” of this specific venture.
Hence, Regency Christian Church will be looking to build some meaningful relationships in the area of south Edmonton that we feel called to reach and to serve— trusting that, in the coming years, the Lord Jesus will build a new group of authentic Christians in Terwillegar-Windermere, each one committed to living out his or her Holy Spirit calling in the world.
May the Lord Jesus bless you all, as you consider His calling for your life and ministry.
Grace to you, in Christ Jesus,
Pastor David MacKenzie
